Jubilee of Mercy - Hotel Piccadilly Rome
The special Jubilee of mercy was proclaimed by Pope Francis through the papal bull, Misericordiae Vultus.
Previously announced by the pope March 13, 2015, it will begin December 8, 2015 and ends November 20, 2016. The choice of that date is not accidental, falling on that day the fiftieth anniversary of the conclusion of the Second Vatican.
The Pope said the Jubilee, the applicant in the fiftieth anniversary of the end of Vatican Council II, will be dedicated to Mercy.
This is the message of the Pope:
"Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought about how the Church can make clear its mission of being a witness of Mercy. It is a journey that begins with a spiritual conversion. So I decided to hold a special Jubilee that is focused upon the mercy of God. This Holy Year will start the forthcoming Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and will end on November 20, 2016, Sunday of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the universe and living face of the Father's mercy. I entrust the organization of this Jubilee of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, so that it can animate it as a new stage of the journey of the Church in its mission to bring the gospel to every person of Mercy »
Monsignor Rino Fisichella, as president of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, is the main contact person for the organization of the Jubilee.
During the Jubilee there will be moments dedicated to specific categories of the faithful. Among these are:
- Meet the boys: meeting dedicated to young people aged 13 to 16 years and will be held April 24, 2016
- Meeting with priests scheduled for June 3, 2016
- Meeting with the sick: scheduled for June 12, 2016
- Meeting with volunteering: will be held September 4, 2016.
